The green sea turtle is one of the largest and the only herbivorous marine turtle – feeding almost exclusively on seagrass and algae. Green sea turtles live all over the world, nest in over 80 countries. However only a few large nesting populations of green sea turtles remain in the world and Australia has some of the largest. Adult green sea turtles grow to 1.5 metres long. The average weight of mature individuals is 68–190 kg.
